About 70% of tuberculosis (TB) patients in KwaZulu-Natal were
HIV-positive, the provincial Health Department said on
Tuesday. "TB is a problem in South Africa but it is worse in
KZN, more especially in eThekwini Municipality," Health MEC
Sibongiseni Dhlomo said, addressing reporters in Durban. He
said SA would be a better country in terms of diseases if KZN
were to be removed from the equation.
Business Day reported that Dhlomo said the treatment of TB
and Aids patients under one roof at heath facilities made sense
in light of the 70% statistic.
