Privacy Policy
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) is committed to maintaining the privacy and protecting an individual’s/user’s personal information when they visit the NICD website and use NICD mobile applications.
The NICD does not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) when individuals/users visit any of the NICD channels unless they choose to provide that information to the NICD. Any PII that individuals/users choose to provide is fully protected.
WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT
An individual/user may choose to provide the NICD with personal information, by means of sending an email to a contact found on the website, completing an online form, or completing a survey.
In addition, the website uses Google Analytics to record visitor data. The NICD uses this data solely for the purposes of improving the website. The data is not shared or sold to any third parties. We do not use any data for the purpose of providing advertising or promoting third parties.
HOW WE USE THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT
If an individual/user chooses to provide the NICD with information, we may use that information to contact them, respond to their message, or provide them the information or services they requested. In order to serve our stakeholders better, we may analyse multiple sources of data that have been provided (for example, to look up whether an individual previously contacted the NICD about the same topic so that we do not send them a duplicative response). We may also use messages or comments collected through official social media profiles for our own purposes, such as to inform policy decisions or in public advocacy.
The NICD may use the data provided by individuals/users and automatically generate data for statistical analysis to assess, for example, what information is of interest to users, technical design specifications, and system performance. This allows us to make general improvements to our site, in addition to offering tailored content to email subscribers.
